As members of ASBA (Associated Self Build Architects) we are familiar with the problems + aspirations of those clients who undertake building work on their own homes (whether or not they actually lay the bricks themselves). Television programmes such as Grand Designs and Property Ladder have helped people realise that living space can be modelled to suit individual desires and we have helped many clients achieve greatly improved living environments (and house values) over the last decade or so.
Our advice to anyone thinking of undertaking the remodelling of their home is "proceed in a considered manner". This involves a thorough consideration of aims and budget at the outset, thoughtful design thereafter in order to reduce to nothing the number of design alterations made later in the process. These are invariably expensive.
We are happy to visit prospective clients in their homes to discuss our approach to their self-build project. Initial visits last about an hour and are free.
